February 07, 2019

Almost a month after his abduction at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital, baby Sae'breon is set to be reunited with his parents.

Suzett Whyte was today told that a baby boy who a woman attempted to register this week was in fact her son. The baby was stolen from the Victoria Jubilee Hospital (VJH) hours after he was born.

The Child is currently with the Child Development Agency.

Whyte is yet to see her baby, but has been told the child will be handed over shortly. A relative told The STAR that she detected signs of life in Whyte for the first time since the child was stolen.

"We Just to thank Jamaica for the support. Thanks to the detectives who worked on the case, and especially the vigilant person or team at RGD who were meticulous enough to notice something was off and raised an alert. We want to find the person and thank them personally, but if we don't get to do so, we want to use this medium to say thank you," a relative said.

The baby was found after woman attempted to register him at the Registrar General’s Department (RGD) in Twickenham Park, St Catherine. DNA tests were required to link the child to his parents.

"After nearly a month of intense investigations that spanned multiple agencies and parishes, JCF investigators are today confirming that the baby that was stolen at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital on Wednesday, January 9 has been found," the police said in a media release.

Meanwhile, the woman in whose custody the stolen baby was found remains in Police custody as investigators continue their probe. She is to face an identification parade as soon as arrangements are finalised.
