February 13, 2019

The Portland police have made a major breakthrough in their investigations into the murder of East Portland Member of Parliament Dr Lynvale Bloomfield.

Investigators said that a male suspect was taken into custody today, February 13. The suspect, said to be about 25 years old, was reportedly picked up in Buff Bay, Portland, shortly before 2 p.m.

Bloomfield, 59, was found dead at his Passley Gardens house on February 2 with multiple stab wounds.

The body of the second-term MP was found by his helper in his bedroom. She reportedly saw the door to the house open when she arrived for work. Eyewitnesses say that there was a trail of dried blood from the bathroom to the bedroom where Bloomfield’s body was found.

The MP will be buried on Saturday.
