Veronica Campbell-Brown, husband welcome first child

Jamaica sprint star Veronica Campbell-Brown, and her husband, Omar Brown celebrated the birth of their daughter Avianna Amora Brown on February 23.

The couple shared their joy in an Instagram post today.

"Thank you Jesus for blessing us with this precious gift," it said. The post had hundreds of congratulatory messages.

The 36-year-old Olympic champion revealed via Instagram in January that she was expecting her first child.

In her announcement, she also hinted that she may be retiring from the track, to focus on her family.

"At this moment, I am uncertain if I will return to competition, as the main focus is to welcome our baby, and to provide the best environment filled with love, warmth, and care", she said.

Campbell Brown is one of Jamaica's most decorated athletes with numerous gold, silver and bronze medals, stretching back to her days as a junior athlete.
