Would-be robbers killed by licensed firearm holder still unidentified

The St Catherine South police say they have not ascertained the identities of the three men who were killed by a licensed firearm holder on Wednesday night during an attempted robbery in Port Henderson, Portmore.

Although the police told THE WEEKEND STAR the they found a driver's licence in the pocket of one of the dead men, the alleged robbers remain unidentified.

"We don't know where these men are from. We found an identification card, a driver's licence on one of the men. It does not reflect a Portmore address," said Senior Superintendent Clive Blair, who is in charge of the St Catherine South Police Division.

Our news team gathered that the firearm holder, who was shot by his attackers, remains hospitalised in serious but stable condition.

THE WEEKEND STAR understands that he was on his way home when the incident transpired.

One Berretta 9mm pistol with a magazine containing seventeen 9mm rounds of ammunition was seized during the incident.

Reports from the police are that about 9:15 p.m., the licensed firearm holder drove on to a premises when he was attacked by the three armed men, who opened fire hitting him.

The licensed firearm holder returned gunfire, and the assailants were shot.

The police were alerted, and all four persons were taken to hospital where the gunmen were pronounced dead. The licensed firearm holder was admitted in serious condition.

The Greater Portmore police are investigating.
