Five persons were shot, two fatally, when gunmen invaded a yard in Rose Heights, St James, on Thursday morning.

Those killed have been identified as 35-year-old Dwayne Stennett, otherwise called 'Rasta', a labourer of Branch Hall; and his cousin, Shane Williams, otherwise called 'Tino', of the same address.

Reports from the Mount Salem police are that about 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Stennett and Williams were among a group of men standing in a yard in Rose Heights, when they were ambushed by two armed men.

The men brandished handguns, and opened fire hitting all five victims, before escaping on foot.

The police were summoned, and upon their arrival, the five wounded men were transported to the Cornwall Regional Hospital, where Stennett and Williams were pronounced dead. The other three male victims were treated and admitted in serious condition.

Superintendent Vernon Ellis, commanding officer in charge of St James, said that the police are now searching for three suspects, and he is asking these men to turn themselves over to the police by noon today.
