A man who the police described as 'dangerous' was shot and killed in August Town, St Andrew, yesterday morning during an alleged confrontation with the police.

The dead man remains unidentified, as police at the scene yesterday told THE STAR that they had not seen the body to establish who the dead man is.

"I don't know who. We can't say as yet because we have not seen the body. All we know is that he is a dangerous man," said a policeman, who was close to the crime scene in the Angola area of August Town.

THE STAR gathered that the man's death comes nine days after his brother was killed in a section of the community called Hermitage.

His brother, Kevin Barrett, was reportedly shot and killed by unknown assailants.

"These policemen here are not the ones who did the killing. The one dem weh kill him, dem nuh look like police. Dem look like dem come fi do dem work and leave," one woman said.

Residents are also questioning the police's motive in yesterday's killing.

"Police have the man up there fi how long before we hear the shot dem. Dem up deh wid him fi over 15 minutes before them kill him. Then when we look, we see van a drive a come up the road, and them start struggle wid him a put him inna the van. We can't love wah gwaan. Bad man a kill we off, and police a kill we off," one resident told THE STAR.

Another resident added: "Badman kill him bredda, and now police come kill him. So what happen to the people dem weh kill his brother? A the first man dead over here from police bullet."

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has commenced an investigation into the killing.
