Pastor Lexi, whose close association and recent involvement in the funeral of Alfonso ‘Oney British’ Harriott, a top-tier member of the British Link Up Crew, has been facing questions about her spirituality and tattooed appearance as a woman of God.

According to the prophet and pastor, after 23 years of working in “the dark”, the funeral of her friend “draw her out”.

“I did everything privately in Jamaica. The man is a man of God. I came out to help organise my friend’s funeral so it could have gone good,” Pastor Lexi explained.

She said that their friendship spanned more than 30 years.

She said she was not surprised when the family asked her to help plan the funeral.

But she told THE STAR that the surprise came after her mother, among several others, called her attention to what persons were saying after her image and name appeared on social media.

Pastor Lexi said: “After the funeral and the STAR story about me ushering persons out the church for their indecent attire, I got a call from my mom about how persons were saying how is it that you’re a pastor and you are associated with these people?”

She defended her affiliations with Oney, noting that he supported her when she first came back to Jamaica, she started a company to help the children.

“He helped me to help them privately and he was always there. Oney is loving, ‘Mr H’ has integrity, a man of loyalty, he respected God, he respected his friends. He lived with empathy and not sympathy. He is one of the pioneers of this country,” she said.

NOT DAUNTED

According to Pastor Lexi, her tattoos represent life and she is not daunted by critics.

She told THE STAR: “I have a lot of tattoos. I got them as a prophet and as a Christian. I suffered from a dangerous disease, a form of cancer. I was told I’d never survive in June 2016. I went through my surgery and survived it and I wanted something to remind me of it. The Bible speaks against tattoos but it also says it’s what’s written and what the tattoos represent. The images that I have on my body represent life, it represent that God is real.”

Pastor Lexi, who has travelled the world, told our news team that her tattoos have only hindered her here in Jamaica.

“As I land here, the first thing you hear is ‘She a pastor’? Jamaica people have turned their backs because I am the Louis Vuitton fashion pastor, because I’m always fashionable. I have the Beyoncé hair and six-inch heels. But when I am in Jamaica, I cover myself up because I respect them. The minute I take off my blazer, then the questions come, ‘How is she a prophet and she have so much tattoos’?” she said.

Pastor Lexi told THE STAR that finding a minister to officiate the funeral was also an issue but because of her doing, everything fell into place.

Harriott was killed days after his fellow crew member Owen ‘Roy Fowl’ Clarke was laid to rest.
