Million-dollar weed seizure on Spur Tree

The Narcotics Police arrested two men following the seizure of more than 3,000 pounds of ganja on Spur Tree main road in Manchester on Thursday.

Reports are that about 3:40 p.m., officers were conducting operations when they signalled a GMC motor truck to stop.

The driver complied, the motor vehicle was searched and 62 knitted plastic bags with several packages of compressed ganja were found.

The ganja weighs approximately 3,010 pounds and has an estimated street value of more than J$12 million.

The truck and the drugs were subsequently seized and the men arrested.

Their identities are being withheld pending formal interviews in the presence of their attorneys.
