Residents of Bethel Town in Westmoreland say they are now living in fear following the murder of a man, who was shot and killed by gunmen at his home last Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as 34-year-old Zicko 'Rezegel' Meirs, a labourer of Castle Mountain, also in Bethel Town.

Reports are that about 6:30 p.m., Meirs was in his yard when he was ambushed by two men armed with guns.

The men opened fire hitting him multiple times to his upper body, before escaping on foot.

The police were summoned, and Meirs, who was found lying in his yard with multiple gunshot wounds, was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
