Green Island student crowned Miss Hanover Festival Queen

Nineteen-year-old Reneise Johnson, an upper-sixth form student at the Green Island High School, was crowned 2019 Miss Hanover Festival Queen.

Johnson walked away with the coveted title at a coronation at the Jockey Factory complex in Lucea on Saturday at the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission crowning of the 2019 Miss Hanover Festival Queen.

"I am absolutely elated," said an obviously delighted Johnson, who eclipsed seven other contestants for the title. "I am looking forward, to representing my parish well in the national finals."

Johnson wore the sash, Miss Island Lux Beach Park. She emerged as one of two crowd favourites as the competition moved through the various stages. She copped three of the six sectional prizes, walking away as the Most Congenial, Most Culturally Aware, and Most Active in the community.

Green Island resident Tensecia Watson, 22, an integrated marketing and communications graduate of the University of the West Indies, who wore the sash 'Miss City Optical', was the first runner-up. Janelle Brady,23, who wore the sash, 'Miss Deveena's Stylist,' took third place.

Johnson, who is from the community of Esher, now turns her focus on the national finals later this year.

Shantae Grant, the 2018 Miss Hanover Festival Queen, was the first-runner up in last year's national finals.
