Three more road fatalities in Trelawny

Over the past seven days, three persons have lost their lives in separate road accidents in Trelawny.

As a result, officials at the Area One Traffic Division say they are now making a public appeal to motorists, especially motorcyclists, to cut their speed.

The latest victims have been identified as 61-year-old Clive Kerr, of Hague, 75-year-old Mannasie Hall, of Peel Street, Falmouth, and 29-year-old Isco Clarke, of Frendship district, all in Trelawny.

Kerr was killed in a hit and run in Martha Brae, while Hall died from injuries he sustained, after a motor vehicle crashed and fell on top of him last Tuesday at Peel Street.

Clarke died last Saturday morning along Bounty Hall main road.

Reports are that about 3:30 a.m., Clarke was travelling on a motorcycle when he lost control, and crashed into a utility pole. He was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

"Again, we are asking motorists, especially motorcyclists, to be cautious when travelling on the roadways," Sergeant Andy Birch, of the Area One Accident Reconstruction Unit told the WESTERN STA R. "Since the start of the year, the parish of Trelawny has seen a major rise in fatal accidents. The police are oncee again appealing to motorists to take the necessary precautions to save lives, including their own, when travelling along the roadways. "

Birch further stated that for the remainder of the year, the Area One Traffic police, in particular the Trelawny division, will be taking a no-nonsense approach to unruly motorists.

Since the start of the year, 16 persons have lost their lives in 13 fatal accidents in Trelawny. This is compared to seven persons killed in 10 traffic accidents at the same period last year.
