Man arrested by MOCA for pretending to work at FLA

The Major Organized Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA) has arrested one man, Jason Anthony Walsh, who was falsely operating as a Firearm Licensing Authority (FLA) employee. Walsh was arrested on October 11 this year.
According to Antoinette Morrison, communications officer for MOCA, Walsh was remanded in custody for obtaining money by false pretence.

“He approached the complainant to say that he was an investigator there and he was assigned the duty,” Morrison said. Walsh allegedly collected $75,000 from the complainant, promising to hand over the cash to the firearms dealer after the inspection of his area was done. In a notice the FLA said they have received numerous reports about Walsh’s dealings.

“The FLA received several reports that Mr Jason Walsh has been collecting thousands of dollars from prospective applicants of firearm licenses, guaranteeing their approval,” the notice said. His firearm license has since been revoked.
“Please be advised that no one is authorized to collect money on FLA’s behalf, except for the cashier (in exchange for FLA official Receipt) at any of our officers located on Kingston, Montego Bay and Mandeville,” the notice said.
