There was tension in Ackee Walk, a community off Molynes Road in St Andrew yesterday morning, after eight people were shot, three of them fatally, on Tuesday night.

The victims are Omar Morrison, 33, Evroy Hibbert, 45, and a 16-year-old male identified as 'Grimy'.

According to police reports, eight men were standing along the roadway when they were attacked by gunfire from men travelling in motor cars.

Charmaine Henry, Morrison's mother, sat outside on a bench - her head tilted back and her eyes red with pain.

She was being consoled by her neighbour when she told THE STAR that she left her phone inside because she didn't want anybody to call.

"He was a loving father. Him love him kids dem very much. Him bredda dead lef two pickney, and him love the two a dem and tek care a dem. Me ina me house and me hear the gunshot dem ... when me come out and was asking for him, me hear seh a him round deh lie dung pon the grung. Me nuh sleep all now ... a bare bawl me a bawl. A him a look after me and the kids," she said slowly.

Just turned one

Henry said that Morrison has left three young children behind.

"One just turned one and the other two under one year old. Dem just a go grow up without dem fada. Di police seh dem a gi mi likkle time fi gi dem a statement, but me nuh have nuh statement fi gi dem. Me done know weh dem a go ask me," she said.

Unfortunately, she is all too familiar with the pain that accompanies losing a child to bullets.

"I had five children and two dead ... two boys dead. Three years ago, gunman killed me first son pon Red Hills Road. Omar died last night, and now my other son, Nico Smith, is in the hospital in critical condition. He's 25 years old and me nuh get no chance fi go look fi him yet," she said.

Crystal Kelly, the mother of one of Morrison's one-year-old son, told THE STAR that he was a good father.

"He was very supportive." Overcome with grief, she uttered "I can't say anything else," while gripping the baby's bag. Hibbert was described as industrious.

"A hardworking yute. Dem man deh no gi trouble ... a food him come buy! A yah suh him buy him food every day," a resident shared.
