At least three houses in the community of Vietnam, located off Grants Pen Drive in St Andrew, have been ravaged by fire.

Seven people have now been left homeless.

When our news team arrived on the scene, three fire trucks were on location carrying out cooling down operations.

Tashorna Deslandes, who was washing at the time of the fire, says her one-year-old son was inside sleeping when she heard neighbours shouting that her home was on fire.

“Me hear somebody a shout ‘bring a bucket a water’ and me run come out and see fire,” she recalled.

She added that due to the blaze, she was unable to enter the house, but that a neighbour rescued the baby from the burning building.
