Woman finds eight dead dogs in her yard

Imagine opening your gates after returning home from a long day at work, only to be greeted by the sight of eight dead dogs in your yard.

That was the reality that Shernette faced last Friday evening.

The 28-year-old, who lives in Kingston, said she was both disgusted and terrified when she saw the dead dogs in her yard - two of which belonged to her.

"Me heart nearly lef me out deh inna the yard ... same time me a wonder a wah it mean. Me not even loud it up cause me nuh know a who," she said.

Paralysed by fear, Shernette said she called her mother, who lives 'a good likkle distance' away. When her mother showed up, she had an explanation.

"She just walk come dung and she believe seh a obeah. She said I should be careful because ghetto people can't be trusted cause dem a wicked," Shernette said. "We get a pastor fi come pray inna the yard cause she (mother) nah tek no check. I didn't get the police involved because me nuh have luck with police ... dem never assist me yet."

The woman, who has been living in the community all her life, said she has no idea who may have killed the animals and why there carcasses were in her yard.

"I don't have a problem wid nobody in this place. I just mind my business ... I hardly go a road. Anybody can tell yuh ... nobody neva hear my mouth round hear yet. Me just go work and come back a my yard," she said.

Shernette said that she sought the assistance of a relative to dispose of the animals.
