Jamaica records its tenth COVID death

Jamaica has recorded its tenth COVID death. The deceased is an 87-year-old woman from Kingston and St Andrew.

In the meantime, there was one new coronavirus case today pushing the tally to 591. The new patient is a 27-year-old woman who recently arrived on Adventure of the Seas cruise ship. There were also five more recoveries increasing the total to 361.

The country’s recovery rate now moves to 61%.

Jamaica now has 92 imported cases; 217 cases are contacts of confirmed cases; 27 are local transmission cases not epidemiologically linked; 235 cases linked to a workplace cluster and 20 cases under investigation.

Some 340 (58%) of all confirmed cases are females and 251 (42%) are males, with ages ranging from 2 months to 87 years.

There are now 220 (37%) active cases currently under observation, with one moderately ill and one critically ill patient.

One Hundred Sixty-Nine (169) persons-of-interest remain in quarantine at a government facility.
