Man chops sister in family home

The Cambridge police in St James say they have now laid criminal charges against a man who reportedly chopped his sister in Richmond Hill last Thursday.

Facing charges of attempted murder is Easton 'Pappa D' Davis, 31-year-old labourer of Richmond Hill.

His sister, Melissa Dawkins, a marker vendor of a Westmoreland address, reportedly had her hand severed in the attack.

Reports by the Cambridge police are that about 8 p.m., Dawkins travelled from her home in Westmoreland to her family house in Richmond Hill to pick up some clothing for her mother, who was a patient at the Cornwall Regional Hospital.

On reaching the house, she was attempting to open the door when Davis, one of her younger brothers, tried to prevent her from doing so.

An argument developed between the siblings, which resulted in Davis reaching for a machete, which he used to chop his sister, severing one of her hands.

She cried out for help, and Davis reportedly chopped her again, this time in the region of her neck. Family members rushed to her assistance, and Davis fled the scene and escaped in nearby bushes.

The police were summoned, and Dawkins was rushed to the Cornwall Regional Hospital, where she was admitted in critical condition.

Davis was picked up on the weekend. Investigators say a court date has not yet been set for him.

Investigators say that based on reports gathered in the community of Richmond Hill, it is likely that a psychiatric evaluation will be done on the accused.
