CLARENDON

TWO CHARGED FOR SEVEN HEIGHTS SHOOTING

Two Clarendon men have been charged for a shooting incident that took place on the Seven Heights main road in the parish about 7:50 p.m. on April 21. The men, Robert Johnson, 30, a higgler of Midway Avenue, May Pen in Clarendon, and Tamar Wignal, 38, of Queen Street in the parish, have been charged with shooting with intent, illegal possession of firearm and ammunition and conspiracy.

The police said that the complainant parked his vehicle along the roadway when both accused approached him and opened gunfire in his direction. A report was subsequently made to the police and an investigation launched.

COP AMONG FOUR CHARGED WITH GUN FIND

A police constable is among four men charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition in Clarendon.

Reports from the May Pen police are that about 1 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8, lawmen were on patrol when the driver of a Toyota Probox motor car was signalled to stop at the intersection of Glenmuir Road and Muirhead Avenue in May Pen, Clarendon. He complied and a search was conducted of the vehicle during which two guns - a Taurus 9mm pistol, with a magazine containing nine 9mm cartridges, and a 9mm pistol with a magazine containing 14 9mm cartridges, as well as two ballistic vests were found.

The cops later charged Chevon Downer, 26, a police officer of Pointy Heights, Old Harbour, St Catherine; Bertram Burrell, 43, a truck driver of Burnt Ground, Hanover; Keflyn Pennant, 33, a farmer of Burnt Ground, Hanover; and 33-year-old Tafari Rass, a tractor operator of Bannister, Old Harbour, St Catherine.

The men are scheduled to appear before the Clarendon Parish Court tomorrow.

MISSING CAR MONEY LANDS MAN IN JAIL

Detectives attached to the Savanna-la-Mar police arrested and charged one man with conspiracy to commit fraud and obtaining money by false pretence on Friday, July 10. He is 29-year-old Dickeno Williams, otherwise called 'Killa Bean', steel worker of Pullet Lane, Petersfield, in Westmoreland.

Reports are that on April 9, the complainant decided to purchase three vehicles and informed the accused man about it. Two days later, the accused man took the complainant to a car mart where the agreement was made for the purchase of the vehicles for US$15,000 (approximately $2.1 million). The complainant subsequently contacted the car mart owner who informed her that a portion of the money for the vehicles was not received.

Following an investigation, Williams was apprehended and charged. His court date is being finalised.

PRINCE ACCUSED OF STEALING FROM CABBIE

Thirty-four-year-old Truce Prince of Three Miles River, Frome, Westmoreland, was charged with simple larceny on Friday, July 10. Reports from the Savanna-la-Mar police are that about 1:30 a.m., a taxi operator was en route from Savanna-la-Mar to Grange Hill when he picked up Prince. On reaching a section of Three Miles River, Prince reportedly requested a stop and allegedly ran from the vehicle with $12,000.

She was subsequently accosted and both parties went to the station, where Prince was searched and the money allegedly found.

Her court date is being finalised.
