The family of honey vendor Demar Lilly, who was killed in a hit-and-run in Toll Gate, Clarendon, feels that enough is not being done to help find the person responsible for his death.

Demar, 20, was selling honey along the roadway when the driver of a grey Mitsubishi Pajero ran him over and did not stop.

"We are just disappointed that the murderer still has not been caught. Tomorrow (today) will be one full month since my brother died, and still, the police have not made an arrest or even communicated anything to us unless we reach out to them, and when we do, they still have nothing to tell us," Sanya Lilly, Demar's sister, told THE WEEKEND STAR.

Attempts to contact Senior Superintendent Glenford Miller, head of the Clarendon police, proved futile up to press time on Thursday.

Demar, who had hopes of becoming a chef, was slated to start working in a restaurant, having completed his certification through HEART/NSTA Trust some months ago.

The Garvey Maceo High past student spent the last five years selling honey at the spot where he was run over. A date for his funeral has not yet been set as the family is yet to be advised when the post mortem on his body will be conducted.

"We are coping as best as we can, given the circumstances. Mommy is trying her best to be strong, but it's definitely not easy on her," Sanya Lilly said.
