Taxi operator killed
A popular taxi operator who resides in Green Pond, St James, is the 64th person to be murdered by gunmen in the parish since the start of the year.
He has been identified as Oseedo Fowler, 27, who operated his taxi from downtown Montego Bay to Rosemont and its adjoining communities.
Reports by the police are that shortly after noon yesterday, Fowler was transporting passengers along the route when he was ambushed by armed men posing as passengers at a section of Coke Avenue.
The police were summoned and upon arrival, Fowler was discovered slumped around the steering wheel with gunshot wounds to his head.
The scene was processed and Fowler was transported to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
One police source told THE STAR that they believe robbery could have been the motive behind the latest murder.
