Couple raffles house and BMW to go Down Under

A couple is raffling their PS300,000 home and BMW for just PS2 a ticket to fund their dream Australia move. Current owners Natalie and Bradley Rowcroft want to give the Manchester property away for next to nothing, with the five-bedroom house struggling to secure a buyer due to the coronavirus pandemic.

As reported by the Manchester Evening News newspaper, the couple is putting the home on the market with a unique raffle, and the winner will be chosen once 200,000 tickets have been sold.

The Rowcrofts are even throwing in some furniture and even their BMW, which would cost too much to transport to Australia.

Natalie said: "We need to sell 200,000 tickets for PS2 a ticket. The raffle company takes a percentage of the cash.

"We will pay all of the legal fees on both sides."

A man has asked people to phone his ex-girlfriend and pretend to be Chewbacca. Australian woman Jessica, 29, has opened up on the break-up prank from her former lover, who has offered $100 for the best impression of the Star Wars character to try and encourage people to call her up.

She told 9News: "I'm getting phone calls at really strange hours of the night, about one o'clock to about four o'clock, aye.

"I thought it was quite funny actually. I thought it was a good joke."

She claims she ended the relationship after catching him allegedly cheating on her.

She added to the Cairns Post: "Just pull [the posters] down please, and yeah, have a laugh for me, and if you want to make a phone call, go for it. I don't mind. Bring it on!"

Stuffed toy fooled cops

Police in West Sussex responded to a report of a "large apex predator", which turned out to be a stuffed toy.

Horsham police took to Twitter to share the amusing mix-up after a call about a black panther on the loose in the Steyning area in the southern English county, and the officers didn't realise the full situation right away.

The department's post read: "Reports of a large apex predator in the Steyning area turned out to be true.

"It may be a stuffed toy, but the attending officers didn't necessarily know that at first."

A company is looking to pay someone PS250 to drink and review their wine. Vintage Roots will give the chosen wine lover a selection of their red, white, and rose wine from the Organic Everyday Case and Rose Summer Six cases of alcohol.

Each box - which will be sent to the winner's home - will include six bottles, meaning the lucky tester will have 12 different bottles to try out.

The one-off opportunity - which means that Vintage Roots isn't committed to sending more beyond this test run - is open to people via Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.

Wine-tasting hopefuls simply have to share a photo of them enjoying a glass of wine, either tagging @VintageRootsWines on Instagram or @VintageRootsltd on Facebook and Twitter.
