UTech closed following confirmed COVID case

The University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech) has closed its Papine campus in St Andrew with immediate effect following a confirmed COVID-19 case on the campus.

UTech says no one will be permitted to enter during the closure.

Classes and services will be delivered online.

Acting president Professor Colin Gyles says further updates on the reopening of the university’s Papine campus will be communicated.

Jamaica on Sunday recorded 245 new COVID cases, the highest ever one-day tally.

There was also one death.
