Man arrested in connection with gun seizure in Majesty Gardens

One man has been taken into custody following the seizure of a firearm with ammunition in Majesty Gardens, St Andrew on Tuesday, September 8, 2020.

According to the police, in recent weeks, there has been a flare-up of gang conflicts in the community, which has resulted in the strategic deployment of police personnel in the area.

On Tuesday afternoon at about 3:15pm, a team of detectives from the Specialized Operations Branch were conducting operational activities in the community when they accosted a group of men along a section of the road.

They searched the men and one of them was found to be in possession of an illegal Browning Pistol with a magazine containing one round. He was arrested.

Following the man’s arrest, residents became abusive and began to hurl stones at the Police. As a result, two other men were taken in custody.
