Man who walked out of KPH found under bus shed
Renford Donaldson, a 47-year-old man who disappeared from the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) three weeks ago, has been reunited with his family. His sister, Verneek Donaldson-Williams, said he was found on Monday under a bus shed in East Kirkland Heights, St Andrew, by one of her church sisters.
"It is a miracle and we are so happy. I want to thank every single soul who helped him while he was on the road. Whether you gave him a juice, money or a bulla, I pray that the Lord will bless you. Thank you much, Jamaica," she said.
Donaldson apparently walked out of KPH, where he was a patient, on October 9. He suffered head injuries a few days earlier after he fell from a truck. Donaldson-Williams said her brother, who had a swelling in his brain and suffered internal bleeding, was restrained while he was admitted to KPH. He, however, managed to free himself and walked out of the institution.
Good Samaritan
Marsha Demontingnac, the woman who found Donaldson, said she was on her way to work when she saw someone who resembled him.
"I drove pass him three times and the Lord said I should return, and I slowed down and asked the person if he was okay, and he said yes. I asked him his name and he said 'Renford Donaldson'. I asked him his other name and he gave me. I was so excited I video-called his family members same time and everyone was excited. We asked God for a miracle and we got one," she said.
Donaldson-Williams said her brother appears to have an issue with his hearing and will be doing a thorough medical examination. She said that the family continues to wait on the results of an investigation being carried out by the authorities at KPH regarding how he left the facility.
