It was a broken Paul* who spoke with THE WEEKEND STAR as he struggled to find the words to talk about Wednesday night shooting which took the life of his brother, Delroy Bailey, and his girlfriend Ashlatha Coleman, in Hayes, Clarendon.

"Dem just kill him and him baby madda. Mi bredda a mi good bredda. Mi bredda nuh deserve fi dead suh, a good youth," were the torn up words coming from him.

Reports from the police is that Bailey, 55, a chef, and Coleman, 34, a cosmetologist of Raymonds in Hayes, were at home sleeping along with their three children when explosions were heard.

Superintendent of police Christopher Phillips said the police were in the area when the incident occurred and so they were able to respond quickly. He said that police are investigating whether the killings are linked to an ongoing gang feud in the area.

Scean Barnswell, councillor for the Hayes Division, said the community was enjoying relative calm and is shattered by the gruesome killings.

"It has placed the citizens in a state of shock and bewilderment. You can't blame them to feel that way when one of their own (law abiding citizen) is killed in their house while asleep. Not even in your house you are safe," he said.
