Donovan Campbell, father of 28-year-old Shandeka 'Diamond' Campbell, who was found murdered in a guest house in St Andrew more than a week ago, says he is positive that his daughter's killer would be revealed.

He said that he is satisfied with the pace at which the police are handling the investigations.

"I talk to them (the police) on Saturday and based on how they speak with me, I know they are doing their job. I even spoke to somebody in the Commissioner Office twice and I feel assured," he told THE STAR.

Reports from the Cross Roads police are that about 8:30 a.m., Saturday, December 6, Shandeka's friend went looking for her at her room at the guest house. The friend gained entry to the room and found Shandeka lying in a pool of blood. She then made an alarm and the police were summoned. Shandeka was then transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Investigators revealed that Shandeka was seen last Friday evening entering the room of the guest house with a man.

Being at the wrong place

Defending his daughter's reputation, Campbell, 49, said that his first born did not engage in prostitution as she was being labelled.

"In the first part I thought about the fact that they wouldn't take it serious and say is just another one of those woman being at the wrong place and get killed," he said. "But I reasoned with the officer and I now have different view because they are doing what they can."

The latest report from the Corporate Communications Unit is that Shandeka's common-law husband, as well as a few of her friends, were questioned as they attempted to gather more clues.

As for Campbell, he is patiently waiting for the officers to bring him closure, once the perpetrator is brought to justice.

"The police said they want to make sure they have everything in order and the correct arrests are made because I reason with them and explain what I understand went down and they are doing all that they can," he told THE STAR.
