'Beachy Stout' charged in connection with murder of first wife
Portland businessman Everton 'Beachy Stout' McDonald has been charged in connection with the murder of his first several years ago.
In 2009 McDonald's first wife, Merlene, who was shot and killed outside her home in the community of Boundbrook.
McDonald is also facing charged in relation to the gruesome murder of his second wife, 32-year-old Tonia McDonald.
Tonia McDonald’s partially burnt body was found in Sherwood Forest shortly after 9 p.m. with her throat slashed.
Everton McDonald and his two co-accused, Denvalyn Minott and Aska Barnes, were taken into custody in August 2020 during a series of coordinated operations in Portland.
Minott, who was also arrested and charged in connection with Tonia's killing, pleaded guilty in the Home Circuit Court last September and was sentenced to 19 years in prison.
After his guilty plea, prosecutors divulged details of a witness statement Minott gave police investigators claiming that Everton McDonald offered him $3 million to kill Tonia McDonald.
Minott also admitted that he hired another man to carry out the crime and said he watched as the man stabbed the 32-year-old businesswoman repeatedly.
