Skipping breakfast is key to long life, says rich man

A multimillionaire who plans to live to 180 years old has suggested that skipping breakfast is the key to longevity. Dave Asprey has spent over $1 million in a bid to live as long as he possibly can and argues that skipping the morning meal is beneficial as the body gets used to "intermittent fasting".

Speaking on ITV's 'This Morning', Asprey said: "Skipping breakfast is really important. If you can learn the simple trick of intermittent fasting, what you find is that you have more energy that day, you start to lose weight and you start to feel better."

He also suggests that those looking to live for a long time should eat dinner early so the body has more time to repair itself.

Asprey explained: "The other thing you can do to live longer is have dinner early. If you have dinner just an hour earlier, it gives you one more hour when your body goes in and repairs itself. If you always have food in your stomach, your body's digesting the food instead of repairing yourself."

Adventurous chimp returns to zoo

A chimpanzee escaped from a zoo before returning of its own accord. The primate made a bid for freedom at Taronga Zoo in Sydney last week but soon returned to its own enclosure without any intervention.

The zoo's emergency response unit was activated but was ultimately not needed, although the chimpanzee will remain off display to visitors as zookeepers investigate how the animal escaped.

A statement from the zoo said: "Taronga has strict safety protocols for such an incident. All people on site were immediately directed to enter secure areas until the situation was resolved.

"The zoo remains open, however, Taronga's chimp troop will remain off display until a full investigation has been completed.

"Taronga is pleased to report that all people and animals, including the adventurous chimp, are all safe."

Shark looks like Donald Trump

A wildlife photographer snapped a shark that resembles Donald Trump. Tanner Mansell caught the impressive underwater shot in Florida and it went viral when he uploaded it online as social media users spotted the creature's resemblance to the former US president.

One user wrote: "I wanna apologise in advance to the shark but he looks like Trump."

Another added: "Tell me why I thought this was a Trump face swap."

Discussing his shark snap, Mansell said: "The shark in the photo was doing this thing called 'gaping'.

"After a meal, sometimes the ligaments and tendons can become stressed and out of place, so the sharks will open their jaws as wide as they can to realign everything, and extend their jaws from the head.

"Kind of like they will do before chomping down on a big meal."

Millionaire feeds on cat food

The 'world's tightest millionaire' eats cat food and refuses to buy anything new. Aimee Elizabeth is worth PS3.9 million but goes to extreme measures to avoid splashing the cash - including eating food meant for felines instead of buying tins of tuna.

Elizabeth also feeds her human guests the revolting dish and admits she "doesn't care" how others feel about her thrifty habits.

Speaking on TV show 'Extreme Cheapskates': "When I go to these extremes I think people see it and it annoys a lot of them but I don't care.

"It saves money."

The Las Vegas resident gives herself a monthly budget of PS750 and has a number of methods to stay within the limit.

Elizabeth explained: "I keep my water heater turned off, I need 22 minutes to heat it up enough to get a shower so I turn it on every morning when I get up.

"I set it for 22 minutes so I know exactly when my shower's ready because God forbid I waste another minute on that water heater."
