Jamaica records highest tally of new COVID cases in a single day with 328

Jamaica has recorded its highest tally of new COVID-19 cases in a single day, with 328 cases recorded in the last 24 hours. This brings the total cases to 16, 841 with 4,079 active.

Of the new cases, 139 are males and 189 are females, with ages ranging from 1 year to 99 years.

Kingston and St. Andrew recorded the most new cases with 70, followed by St. James with 53, Manchester with 49, and St Catherine with 43.

Westmoreland with three, and Portland with two, were the parishes with the least amount of cases. 

In the meantime, 51 more persons have recovered for a total of 12,225.

Hospitalisation has increased with some 130 persons in hospital with 21 being moderately and 17 critically ill.

According to the Ministry of Health, 10 persons are in government quarantine, while 18,538 are quarantined at home.

No new deaths were recorded, however one additional death is currently under investiagtion moving that count to 36.
