207 new COVID cases, 171 patients hospitalised

Jamaica on Tuesday recorded another 207 positive COVID-19 infections from a sample of 1,117 tested, bringing total confirmed cases to 17,908 with 4,953 active. 

Of the new cases, 85 are males and 122 are females, with ages ranging from 2 days to 92 years.

Kingston and St Andrew recorded the most new cases with 72, followed by St Catherine with 38,  and Manchester with 33.

St James and St Ann recorded only one new case each making them the parishes with the least amount of new cases. 

In the meantime, 44 more persons have recovered for a total of 12,406.

Hospitalisations continue to see a steady rise in increase as some 171 persons are hospitalised with 34 being moderately and 13 critically ill.

Meanwhile, three more persons have died from the virus pushing the death tally to 362.

The deceased are: a 76-year-old male from St James, an 87-year-old male from St Elizabeth, and a 70-year-old male from St Elizabeth.

According to the Ministry of Health, 11 persons are in government quarantine, while 17,888 are quarantined at home.
