JUTC adjusts schedule to match new curfew hours
The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC), says it has made changes to its commuting schedule, in order to faciliate the new nightly 8 p.m. curfew which takes effect tonight.
JUTC says that while its morning operations will remain unchanged, there will be adjustments to the afternoon schedule as follows:
- Last trips will be at 6:30pm for hill routes (52, 53, 54,)
- All other routes will end at 7:00pm
- Buses will return to their depots between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. without passengers.
The JUTC has encouraged passengers to adhere to COVID-19 protocols to minimise the risk of transmission, by washing their hands frequently, sanitising as often as possible, and wearing a mask.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced a new islandwide curfew beginning at 8 pm nightly until 5 am each morning, amid increase in COVID positive cases. The curfew is expected to end on February 24.
