Horse stuck in mud
A horse was rescued after sinking up to its head in a bog. Animal rescuers in Wales were called out after the horse escaped from her grazing area and ended up submerged in the muddy land.
Officer Mark Roberts believes that the horse's hooves were not touching the bottom of the swamp and the rescue was made extremely complex by the bog.
He said: "The area around the horse was a thick mat of moss, reeds and roots, as well as mud, so we had to force our arms as far as we could to get two straps around the horse's body. This was the hardest and most time-consuming part of the rescue."

Massive bird blocks traffic
A bird was taken into custody after charging on to a busy road in Fareham, England. The animal, an emu, was captured after running loose in traffic.
The emu is the second-largest living bird by height. The ostrich is the largest bird.
Drew Lee who helped catch the bird said that the incident was surreal and described as "the weirdest day" of his life.
He told the Southern Daily Echo newspaper: "My boss came running into the shop saying, 'You're not going to believe this but there's an emu on the road outside'."
Lee led the emu back to a motorcycle dealership where he worked and kept it safe until officers arrived.
The bird was taken to a nearby sanctuary and is now set to be reunited with its owner.
Lee added: "It's great news they've found where it came from, I'd like to visit it one day."

Barefoot man runs half marathon in snow
A Norwegian runner has unofficially broken a world record for running a half marathon barefoot in the snow. Jonas Felde Sevaldrud revealed that he was keen to make a record attempt after his early attempts at running on the ice weren't as difficult as he envisaged.
Sevaldrud admits that he was hoping to "smash" Dutch athlete Wim Hof's previous record of two hours and 16 minutes and chronicled his quest on YouTube.
He had to abandon his first attempt prematurely when sharp ice caused injuries to his feet, but he tried again the following week on softer snow and was far more successful.
Sevaldrud recorded a time of one hour, 44 minutes and 38 seconds and is now waiting to hear back from Guinness to see if he will be confirmed in the record books.
