271 new COVID cases, 271 hospitalised, seven deaths
There are now over 7000 active cases of COVID-19 in Jamaica, as of the 1,147 samples tested on Thursday, 271 returned positive results increasing total cases to 20,581 with 7,156 being active.
Of the new cases, 117 are males and 154 are females, with ages ranging from 6 days to 86 years.
Kingston and St Andrew recorded the most new cases with 87, followed by St Catherine with 49 and St Ann with 34.
The parishes of Portland and Westmoreland recorded the least amount of new cases with only one each.
In the meantime, there were 47 more recoveries, increasing the total to 12,828.
Some 271 persons are in hospital with 27 being moderately and 18 critically ill.
According to the Ministry of Health, four persons are in government quarantine, while 20,346 are quarantined at home.
In the meantime, seven more Jamaicans have died from the virus pushing the death tally to 391.
The deceased are:
- A 71-year-old female from Kingston and St. Andrew;
– A 75-year-old male from St. Ann;
- An 85-year-old male from St. Ann;
– An 89-year-old male from St. Catherine;
– A 59-year-old female from Kingston and St Andrew;
– A 74-year-old female from St. Elizabeth;
– An 87-year-old female from St. Ann.
