265 new COVID cases push Jamaica pass 24,000 mark
Jamaica has surpassed the 24,000 mark for total confirmed COVID-19 cases, as of the 2,809 samples tested in the last 24 hours, 265 returned positive results, pushing the tally to 24,103 with 9,696.
Of the new cases, 127 are males and 138 are females, with ages ranging from 10 months to 86 years.
Kingston and St Andrew recorded the most new cases with 100, while Westmoreland had the least amount of new infections with three.
Some 282 patients are hospitalised with 41 being moderately ill and 30 critical.
In the meantime 120 more persons have recovered, bringing that total to 13,745.
Meanwhile, three more Jamaicans have died as a result of the virus, bringing the death tally to 435.
The deceased are: an 85-year-old male, a 72-year-old male and a 74-year-old female all from the parish of Hanover.
According to the Ministry of Health, three persons are in government quarantine, while 20,087 are quarantined at home.
