Jamaica records 723 new COVID-19 cases, highest number in a 24-hour period
Jamaica has recorded its highest number of COVID-19 cases in a 24-hour period, with 723 cases recorded from 2,640 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
Jamaica on Saturday recorded seven more COVID-19 fatality, pushing the total to 453.
The deceased are:
A 73-year-old female from Kingston and St Andrew
An 85-year-old female from Kingston and St Andrew
A 73-year-old male from Kingston and St Andrew
A 55-year-old female from St James
A 62-year-old female from St James
A 61-year-old female from St James
A 78-year old male from St James
One other death has been listed as coincidental, while three others are under investigation.
The ages of the new cases range from seven months to 95 years, pushing the total to 26,026 with 11,039 being active.
Of the new cases, 290 are males and 409 are females with 24 cases under investigation.
In the meantime, there were 142 more recoveries, increasing the total to 14,301
Some 271 persons are in hospital with 31 being moderately ill and 31 critically ill.
