Manchester man charged with robbery, illegal possession of firearm

Jevon Smith otherwise called ‘Souljie’, a 22-year-old labourer of Effort district, Clarendon was arrested and charged following an incident in Top Lincoln district, Manchester on Monday, February 22.

Smith was charged with robbery with aggravation, illegal possession of firearm and ammunition and assault at common-law.

Reports from the Mandeville Police are that about 9:10 p.m., both complainants, who live at the same apartment complex, arrived home and went to their respective apartments.

Shortly after, one of the complainants heard strange sounds coming from the back of the building and went to investigate.

He reportedly saw three men coming from the other complainant’s apartment, two of which had firearms. The complainant - who is a licence firearm holder - challenged the men and one of them was shot.

The men, however, escaped in the area. The other complainant was found inside his house with his hands bound and his mouth duct taped.

Smith later turned up at hospital with gunshot wounds and was treated. He was subsequently charged following intensive investigations.

His court date is being finalised.
