Four injured in motorcycle gun attack
The Westmoreland police have ramped up their drive to rid the parish of motorcycle gunmen, following another attack on Wednesday night.
The attack left four persons, including three females, nursing gunshot wounds in hospital. Reports by the Savanna-la-Mar police are that about 8 p.m., the four persons were among a group of people on Jane Mark Road in Georges Plain, when two men travelling on a motorcycle rode up. Nearing the crowd, the pillion rider brandished a handgun and opened fire hitting all four persons, before the motorcycle sped away.
The police were summoned and upon arrival, the four persons were found suffering from gunshot wounds. They were rushed to the Savanna-la-Mar Hospital, where they were treated and admitted in serious but stable condition.
HIDEOUS CRIMES
"The police are aware that since late last year, leading over into the past two months, several of the most hideous crimes that have taken place within the parish of Westmoreland have been carried out by criminal who travel by motorcycles," one senior cop told THE WEEKEND STAR. "Since this latest attack, the police have put a number of plans in play, and also stepped up the stop and search of motorcycle riders around the parish, more so within the township of Savanna-la-Mar and its surrounding communities."
