525 new COVID cases, four more deaths

Jamaica on Friday recorded 525 positive COVID-19 cases from a sample of 1,352 tests bringing confirmed cases to 29,912 with 13,939 being active.

Of the new cases, 220 are males and 293 are females, with ages ranging from 20 days to 90 years.

Kingston and St. Andrew recorded the most new cases with 129, followed by St Catherine with 74 and Portland with 65.

Manchester with four and St Elizabeth with five had the least amount of new infections.

In the meantime, there were 147 more recoveries, increasing the total to 15,059.

Some 317 persons are in hospital with 24 being moderately and 33 critically ill.

Meanwhile, four more Jamaicans have died from the virus pushing the death tally to 484.

The deceased are: a 54-year-old-male from St. Catherine, a 95-year-old male, a 56-year-old male and a 95-year-old male all from Kingston & St. Andrew.

According to the Ministry of Health, 10 persons are in government quarantine, while 20,815 are quarantined at home.
