602 new COVID cases, two more deaths

Jamaica on Monday recorded 602 positive COVID-19 results from a sample of 1,762 tests, pushing total confirmed cases to 31,907 with 15,807 active.

Of the new cases, 249 are males and 334 are females, with ages ranging from 1 year to 98 years.

Kingston and St Andrew recorded the most new cases with 146, followed by St Catherine with 104,  Clarendon with 52, St Ann 49, Portland 43,  St James 42, and Westmoreland with 41.

St Thomas recorded the least amount of new infections with 13. 

In the meantime, there were 118 more recoveries, increasing the total to 15,371.

Some 354 patients are hospitalised, with 31 being moderately and 37 critically ill.

Meanwhile, two more Jamaicans have died from the virus increasing the death tally to 494.

The deceased are an 86-year-old female from Kingston and St Andrew, and and an 82-year-old male from St. Mary.

According to the Ministry of Health, four persons are in government quarantine, while 21,406 are quarantined at home.
