More than 400 Jamaicans hospitalised with COVID-19

More than 400 Jamaicans are currently hospitalised with COVID-19 according to the latest clinical summary from the Ministry of Health released this morning, which reports a total of 418 hospitalisations, with 65 patients moderately ill and 37 critical. 

Meanwhile, of the 1,168 samples tested in the last 24 hours, 558 returned positive results increasing total confirmed cases to 35,896 with 18,801 active. 

Of the new cases, 243 are males and 315 are females, with ages ranging from 10 days to 90 years.

Kingston and St Andrew recorded the most new cases with 219, followed by St Catherine with 177.

St Ann was the only parish to not record any new infections.

There were 179 more recoveries, bringing that total to 16,309.

In the meantime, two women aged 46 and 33 from St Catherine, and a 77-year-old man from Westmoreland, are the latest Jamaicans to die as a result of the virus bringing the death tally to 536.

According to the Ministry of Health, one person is in government quarantine, however, 25,350 are quarantined at home.
