Up to press time, the police said that the victim remained unidentified. One used a knife to stab the other in the chest before walking away from the scene. The police were summoned and the unidentified male was discovered lying in a pool of blood. The scene was processed and he was transported to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
"We have reason to believe that both individuals are of unsound mind and also that one of the men stabbed and killed the other who still remains unidentified," a senior cop told THE STAR. "We are still in the early stages of our investigations and we have since launched a search for the killer." The lawman noted that there was another stabbing incident in the city some time between Saturday night and Sunday morning.
"On that occasion the victim did not die but is still at hospital in serious condition," the officer stated. "This incident occurred along a section of Strand Street in downtown Montego Bay, where a man who is known to the police as a cocaine addict, was stabbed multiple times. The injured man managed to run to an adjoining street where he was found suffering from stab wounds by police officers on patrol. He was rushed to hospital where he was treated and admitted in serious condition."
