Three St Thomas men die from COVID as 350 new infections reported

Jamaica surpassed 41,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 350 samples returning positive results from 1,005 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, for a total of 41,013 infections with 21,816 active.

Of the new cases, 163 are males and 187 are females, with ages ranging from 44 days to 96 years.

St Catherine recorded the most new cases with 86, followed by Kingston and St Andrew with 79.

Trelawny with seven and Hanover eight, were the only parishes to record single digit new infections.

In the meantime, there were 148 more recoveries, increasing the total to 18,297.

Some 398 persons are in hospital with 40 being moderately and 48 critically ill.

Meanwhile, three men aged 77, 66 and 43 all from the parish of St Thomas, are the latest Jamaicans to die as a result of the virus, bringing the death tally to 618.

According to the Ministry of Health, six persons are in government quarantine, while 26,389 are quarantined at home.
