Woman claims deacon husband trying to harm her
A St Catherine woman who shares a house with her estranged husband, a church deacon, says she is now living in fear because he is threatening to kill her.
"Well, I am more than a little bit fearful but I will continue to use prayer as one of my weapons," she said. "He continues to threaten me. The other day he asked me if I was not watching the news as if to say I must look at what is happening in society to women who want to leave their man." The woman said that her husband has physically assaulted her several times, and she required serious medical attention each time. She accused the police of not doing enough even after she made a formal report recently.
The police declined to comment on the matter but THE STAR obtained a copy of the receipt that was issued to the complainant when she made the report. She also accused her spouse of cheating, and said he has even brought some of his mistresses to their home.
She admitted that members of her family had discouraged her from getting married as they did not believe the man was trustworthy.
"But to be honest, I wasn't listening to them or to the Lord. Sometimes people appear to you as if they are this person, 'wolf in sheep clothing' as they would say," she said. The woman said that she believes that God is punishing her, as she did not pray about her union before tying the knot.
