Senior wins lottery after forgetting his glasses

A pensioner won over PS100,000 (approximately J$21.1 million) on the lottery after forgetting his glasses and not being able to choose his regular numbers.

Dennis Fawsitt usually uses family birthdays for his weekly EuroMillions ticket, but went for a lucky dip after forgetting to bring his spectacles to his convenience store in Derbyshire.

Fawsitt said that leaving his glasses at home turned out to be "one of my best decisions ever" as he claimed the PS116,124 (approximately J$24.5 million) jackpot with his lucky dip numbers.

He told the BBC: "I realised I had forgotten my glasses and tried to pick my numbers, but I just couldn't.

"I went to pay for my papers and asked the lady behind the counter for a lucky dip."

The 80-year-old revealed he had a "funny feeling" that he was going to win big money after not playing his traditional numbers.

Fawsitt said: "After what happened in the newsagent, I had this funny feeling we were going to win. I said to my wife Ann that evening that I felt we were going to win big."

Man locks himself up to make money

A man has spent over 100 days live-streaming himself in a shed. Tim C. Inzana has so far spent all of 2021 in isolation and says he is prepared to do so for a number of years as he creates a piece of art.

The concept could be a money-spinner for Inzana as he hopes to make millions by selling his Twitch live stream in a custom frame as an unusual piece of artwork.

Inzana has revealed that he will keep his stream running for up to five years so long as he has at least 7,000 subscribers, and explained that his unusual scheme has the support of his fiancee, who passes him essentials through a window.

He said: "I don't know exactly what I'm doing, to be honest.

"There's elements of me just following hunches and wanting to make the world a better place."

Restaurant offers burgers for tattoos

A restaurant is offering customers a year of free burgers if they get tattoos with the eatery's name.

California-based burger chain Farmer Boys have teamed up with The Honourable Society tattoo parlour in West Hollywood to celebrate the restaurant's 40th anniversary.

Three different tattoo designs bearing the name are on offer and those willing to get themselves inked will have free burgers for a whole year.

Larry Rusinko, the vice-president and chief marketing officer of Farmer Boys, told NBC Los Angeles: "As we reflect on the last 40 years, we are overjoyed with the memories we have created with our loyal guests and team members.

"We are celebrating this milestone to offer our superfans the opportunity to pay homage to Farmer Boys and get free burgers for a year! Everyone can join the celebration, even those looking for a less permanent but equally delicious way to display their loyalty."
