Trelawny woman dies from COVID as Jamaica records 140 new cases

A 78-year-old woman from Trelawny is the lastest Jamaican to die as a result of COVID-19, pushing the death tally to 752.

Two more fatalities are under investigation, moving that figure to 124.

Meanwhile, there were 140 new infections with ages ranging from one day to 97 years, increasing total confirmed cases to 44,642 with 23,291 being active.

Of the new cases, 87 are women and 52 are men.

The country’s positivity rate stands at 15.1%.

In the meantime, there were 105 more recoveries, increasing the total to 20,275.

Some 272 persons are in hospital with 16 being moderately ill and 27 critically ill.
