15 COVID deaths reported in latest clinical summary

Fifteen more Jamaicans have been reported as having died from COVID-19 in the latest clinical summary from the Ministry of Health, increasing the death tally to 878.

The deaths occured between January 19 - May 16, 2021. 

Nine of the deceased are from Manchester, five are men aged 75, 72,  65 and two 63-year-olds, and four are women aged 80, 73, 72 and 53.

The other deceased include: a man and woman from St Catherine aged 77 and 83, a 71-year-old man from St Thomas, a 55-year-old man from Kingston and St Andrew and a 44-year-old man from Westmoreland. 

Two more deaths have been listed as coincidental, while one other is under investigation.

Meanwhile, there were 83 new cases in the last 24 hours, with ages ranging from one year to 95 years, pushing the total to 47,479 with 22,837 being active.

Of the new cases, 46 are women and 37 are men.

A total of 1,398 tests were conducted.

The country's positivity rate stands at 13.2%.

In the meantime, there were 129 more recoveries, increasing the total to 23,410.

Some 153 persons are in hospital with 62 being moderately ill and 18 critically ill.
