536 new COVID cases, two more deaths

Jamaica on Monday recorded 536 new COVID-19 cases from 1,480 samples tested, increasing total confirmed cases to 76,987 with 24,659 being active.

This brings the country's positivity rate to 47.4%.

Of the new cases, 323 are women and 213 are men with ages ranging from one day to 103 years.

Meanwhile, two more Jamaicans have died as a result of COVID-19, pushing the death tally to 1,736. 

The deaths which occurred between September 1-2 were previously under investigation, they include a 65-year-old woman and a 46-year-old man from Clarendon.

In the meantime, there were 331 more recoveries, bringing that total to 50,777.

Some 805 persons are in hospital with 235 being moderately ill, 152 severley ill and 53 critically ill.
