Fake gun used to commit robbery
A St Andrew man, who allegedly used an imitation firearm to commit a robbery, has been jailed.
According to the police, Kevin White, 38, a labourer of Six Miles, robbed a man of his cell phone along the Mandela Highway last Wednesday.
The complainant was reportedly riding his bicycle along the roadway when he was pounced upon by White, who allegedly pulled an imitation handgun and proceeded to rob him of his cell phone, before escaping in the area.
The police were alerted and following a search of the area, White was accosted and searched and the complainant's cell phone found in his pocket.
An imitation firearm was also found in a small bag attached to his bicycle.
White was arrested and charged with robbery with aggravation and illegal possession of firearm.
His court date is being finalised.
