Swan blocks train line
Thousands of commuters in London faced severe delays after a swan decided to make himself at home on the London Underground track.
The white bird -- usually found in ponds scrounging for breadcrumbs -- parked his weary feathers on the line at South Acton tube station and refused to move for more than an hour on Tuesday.
The avian blockade held up trains between Willesden Junction and Richmond, with 14 services needing to either cancel or amend their journeys until eventually wildlife professionals safely removed it, checked it over, and let it back into the wild.
A spokesperson for London Wildlife Protection said in a statement: "The bird was so disorientated it simply did not know what to do. When we measured him, he was underweight, so it's likely that he simply did not have the strength to fly away. He was very lucky not to have any injuries though, and avoid the electrified rails."

19-year-old makes solo flight around the world
A 19-year-old pilot has become the youngest woman to complete a solo flight around the world.
Zara Rutherford carried out the "crazy" flying achievement in a Shark Ultralight aircraft -- which can reach up to 186 miles per hour -- zooming over 52 countries and five continents, totalling 32,000 miles, in just five months.
After landing, the teen said: "I wasn't expecting so many people. It's really nice seeing so many friendly faces. It's just really crazy. I haven't quite processed it."
In December, the pilot called the task "challenging" as she landed in South Korea from Russia.
She is now looking forward to her favourite lunch.
Zara said: "Well, so I have been waiting for this sandwich from a sandwich shop that's, like, really nearby, and I've been waiting five months to get it, so I'm really looking forward to getting it, hopefully soon."
The previous record holder was Shaesta Waiz, who completed her quest at age 30 in 2017.

Boy loses his nipples after falling victim to peer pressure
A British schoolboy's nipples fell off after he froze them with a can of Lynx.
The 15-year-old boy -- after being dared by his school friends -- was instructed to have each one sprayed with a can of the popular antiperspirant while in the changing room.
Immediately after stopping, another boy went up to him and "flicked his nipples," prompting them to just pop off his chest.
The anonymous students described the incident as "cold".
He explained: "It's not really a big thing. And then it starts to burn, and you're just there waiting for it to finish.
"It was fine, it was all fine. Then the boy who was actually freezing my nipples, he flicked both my nipples. And that's when the nipples fell off."
The boy compared it to removing a wart, saying: "Have you ever seen a wart? It was exactly like that. It hurts. It was like raw, exposed skin."
After he began bleeding in his next lesson, he was advised to get medical attention by his German teacher.
