The Trelawny police have launched a manhunt for a man who allegedly used a machete to partially sever his girlfriend's head following a dispute at her farm in Green Town, Trelawny, yesterday.

The woman has been identified as Garcia Williams, 41, otherwise called 'Julie' of Mendez Town in Trelawny, while the man has been identified as Omar 'Big Shot' Bennett, of Green Town also in Trelawny. Reports by the Wait-A-Bit police are that about 9:15 a.m., Williams went to her farm which is located in Green Town. It is further reported that while there, she was confronted by Bennett, with whom she has constantly been having arguments over the past weeks. It is further reported that Bennett brandished a machete, which he used to chop Williams in her neck, partially severing her head from her body. Bennett reportedly ran from the farm.

Residents summoned the police and upon their arrival, the scene was processed, and Williams was taken to the Falmouth Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. One of her relatives told THE STAR that Williams and Bennett were in a common-law relationship for some time, but she recently ordered him to move out of the house weeks ago. The relatives claimed that Bennett has been threatening Williams since then.

"A don't know wha wrong wid dem man yah nowadays. The woman is very hard-working, and every day yu would see har a go a har farm. But the boy jealous no hell. Him a accuse har a all kind a things," she said. "Wi a look every weh fi him, an wi naw stop look till wi find him, an him betta pray seh di police find him before wi find him, because it not gwan pretty."

Commander of the Trelawny police, Superintendent Carlos Russell, urged Bennett to come in.

"We have seen once again another unfortunate family dispute which ended with a female being killed, and we are now making an appeal to the accused man, Omar Bennett, to turn himself over to the police," he said. Russell also appealed to residents who may have information that could lead to Bennett's arrest to come forward. Five persons have been murdered in Trelawny since the start of the year.
